Facilities
Clinical Teaching Unit
- The CTU includes a lounge area and computer suite for students.
- Tea/coffee making facilities are available in the lounge area.
- Students using the lounge area should minimise noise when other students are using the computer suite for study.
- The lounge area is used occasionally for tutorials and meetings. Students may still use the computers at these times.
- The CTU also has video terminals for viewing teaching videos available from the Library. Please use headphones to minimise noise.
- Students seeking a quiet area for study should use the Library or the Common Room between the Library and CTU.
- The telephones in the office of the CTU may be used for external calls for School related activities.
Computer Suite
Students may use the computers in the CTU for email and internet access, Microsoft Office applications, CD-ROM based programs and for scanning documents.
To access the internet and secured pages on the Clinical School’s website, you’ll need your Unipass number.
The use of these computers is governed by the
UNSW IT Policy.
Computers are also available in the Library.
CIAP (Clinical Information Access Project)
CIAP is an on-line education resource provided by NSW Health. It provides free access to a range of bibliographic databases, full text journals and books and interactive programs. CIAP can be accessed from computers in the CTU, library and from computers in the wards. The site is password protected – logon details are available on the Student Year pages.
Photocopying
Photocopying is available in the CTU. Costs are: 5c per single-sided page and 10c per double-sided page or 2.5c per single-sided page and 5c per double-sided page when you supply paper.
Pagers
Hospital pagers are available for all terms in Years 4 and 6 but not for all students. Pagers are to be collected from Jenny Ryall on the first day of term and returned on the last day. Students cannot carry a pager over from one term to another.
Lockers
There are a limited number of lockers available to Year 4, 5 and 6 students located on the verandah outside the CTU. Keys are to be collected from Jenny Ryall. A deposit of $20.00 is refunded when the key is returned.
