Bio

After acquiring an honours degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from Melbourne University, and a Master's in Applied Statistics from Macquarie University, Margaret worked for 20 years in applied statistics, firstly with Sydney Water, in the Science and Environment Branch, then at Polartechnics, a small biotech company, developing tools for diagnosing cervical and skin cancers. 

She then worked briefly at the University of Melbourne as a statistical consultant in the Statistical Consulting Centre, before returning to Sydney to work as a statistical consultant, mainly in the field of clinical trials and medical statistics. 

In 2008, she returned to study, and was awarded a Ph.D from Queensland University of Technology, in 2011, with a thesis entitled "Using Bayesian methods for the estimation of uncertainty in complex statistical models".
